Overview
ISO 229:1973 is an international standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that specifies the speeds and feeds of machine tools used in metal removal processes. This standard defines the parameters for speeds-expressed as revolutions or strokes per minute-and feeds-measured in millimeters or inches, per minute, per revolution, or per stroke. It applies specifically to machine tools directly driven by electric motors and excludes those with continuously variable speed controls or specialized thread-forming feeds.
