Overview
ISO 23239-1:2021 - "Road vehicles - Vehicle domain service (VDS) - Part 1: General information and use case definitions" defines the foundational concepts, terminology and typical use cases for Vehicle Domain Service (VDS). This first part of the ISO 23239 series establishes a common vocabulary and functional overview (for example VDS, VDDM - vehicle domain dynamic map, VDSA - vehicle-domain service account, VDS master time) and describes business and system use cases, system sequences, architecture variations, and information security considerations. Detailed communication and protocol specifications are intentionally not included here and appear in other parts of the ISO 23239 series. Remote OBD tool functions (repair, reprogramming, prognostics) are out of scope.
