This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 299 : 1973), of which the dimensions in inches have been deleted and to which clause 5 has been added. Specifies, in millimetres, the dimensions and spacing of T-slots. It also specifies the metric dimensions of bolts to be used in these slots.

Overview
ISO 299:1987 - "Machine tool tables - T-slots and corresponding bolts" standardizes the metric geometry and spacing of T-slots used on machine-tool tables and specifies the corresponding metric bolt sizes. This second edition (1987) cancels , removes inch-based dimensions, and adds additional requirements for slot designation and spacing. The standard enables interchangeability of clamping and fixturing components across machines built to the metric specification.
