ISO 4089:1979 - "Shipbuilding - Inland navigation - Sealing rubber for covers of cargo hatches" is an ISO technical standard that defines the type, principal dimensions and technical requirements for rubber sealing packings used on cargo hatch covers of inland vessels and watercraft. - Weathertightness assessed by a water jet directed vertically upwards to simulate heavy rain; nozzle movement along the packing perimeter is limited (see standard).
- Tests conducted above 0 °C, but permissible at lower air temperatures if water temperature is maintained at 15–20 °C. Acceptance: no traces or drops of water inside the cover after test.
