La présente Norme internationale fixe les prescriptions minimales de performance et certaines exigences dimensionnelles pour un fonctionnement satisfaisant des machines à traire. Elle fixe également les exigences relatives aux matériaux, à la construction et à l'installation. La présente Norme internationale est applicable aux machines à traire pour vaches et bufflesses. Les exigences qualitatives sont également applicables aux installations de traite mécanique pour brebis et chèvres. Il n'est pas prévu que la présente Norme internationale s'applique en tous points aux installations munies de dispositifs spéciaux qui sont (ou peuvent être) disponibles, comme -- les installations de traite à lactoduc unique; -- les installations de traite à système de vide double; -- la traite sans pulsation; -- les installations à pompes de pulsation; -- les petites installations mobiles munies d'une pompe à vide individuelle pour chaque poste de traite; -- les machines à traire avec circuit indépendant 150; -- les installations de traite avec système de pulsation à air comprimé ou autres caractéristiques spéciales de pulsation.
