This document specifies a method of determining the σ0,01*‑limit for the steel backing of thin‑walled multilayer half bearings for bearing diameters up to 80 mm. It can also be used for bearing diameters up to 160 mm.

Overview
ISO 6282:2018 specifies a laboratory method for determining the σ0,01‑limit* (sigma 0,01*‑limit) - the compressive hoop stress in the steel backing of metallic thin‑walled multilayer half bearings that produces a permanent set of about 0.01% in the peripheral direction. The procedure is intended for bearings with diameters up to 80 mm and may be applied to bearings up to 160 mm. ISO 6282:2018 is aimed at consistent, repeatable measurement of elastic/plastic behaviour of the steel backing in thin‑walled plain bearings.
