This document specifies tolerances on form and dimensions for wrought aluminium and aluminium alloy drawn round bars and wires having diameters in the range of from 1 mm to 100 mm inclusive. The tolerances on diameter specified in this document are symmetric plus and minus tolerances. For wires, this document does not apply to electrical, welding and aeronautical purposes. For drawn bars, 4.1 to 4.5 apply, and only 4.1 and 4.2 apply to drawn wires.

Measured with the bar on a horizontal plate. Maximum deviation is limited (document specifies 2 mm per 1 000 mm total length, and ≤ 0.6 mm per 300 mm segment).

Fixed lengths (4.4)

Tolerance on fixed lengths increases with length; example tolerance increments shown in the standard (e.g., examples range from +4 mm up to +12 mm depending on length bracket for 10–100 mm diameters).

Squareness of cut ends (4.5)

Squareness must be within half the fixed‑length tolerance (e.g., if a fixed‑length tolerance is +12 mm, squareness tolerance is 6 mm).
