ISO 7345:2018 defines physical quantities used in the thermal performance of buildings and building elements, and gives the corresponding symbols and units. NOTE Because the scope of this document is restricted to thermal performance and energy use in the built environment, some of the definitions it contains differ from those given ISO 80000-5.

ISO 7345:2018 - "Thermal performance of buildings and building components - Physical quantities and definitions" is an ISO standard that defines the physical quantities, symbols and units used to describe thermal performance and energy transfer in buildings and building elements. Focused on the built environment, it standardizes terms such as heat flow, heat flux, thermal conductivity, thermal resistance, transmittance (U‑value), linear transmittance (Ψ‑value), heat capacity and related thermophysical properties. The third edition (2018) updates terminology and symbols to align with modern practice and explicitly notes where definitions differ from ISO 80000‑5.
