Overview
ISO 7651:1991 - "Commercial vehicles and buses - Mounting dimensions for alternators of types 1, 2 and 3" is an international standard that specifies the mechanical mounting dimensions and tolerances required for interchangeability of hinge-mounted alternators used on internal combustion engines for commercial vehicles and buses. The standard defines three alternator mounting types (type 1, type 2 and type 3), shows reference figures, and gives dimensional tables (in millimetres) and tolerances to ensure physical compatibility between alternators and engine/vehicle mounting points. It may also be applied to other engine installations where no specific standard exists.
