Overview

ISO 7862:2004 defines a sled test procedure to evaluate vehicle restraint systems (seat belts, airbags and related components) by simulating frontal collisions. Its purpose is to improve and harmonize test methods so results from different laboratories can be compared reliably. The standard applies to restraint systems used within the structure of a passenger car as defined in ISO 3833 and allows controlled deviations if they do not significantly affect results.
