ISO 8371:2024 is an international standard that specifies a precise method for determining the decrepitation index of iron ores used as blast furnace feedstocks. Decrepitation refers to the tendency of lump iron ores to break down and degrade in size when rapidly heated. This standard provides a uniform procedure for evaluating the extent of this size degradation under controlled conditions.
