Materials and chemistry: Steel shall be electric- or oxygen-produced, fully killed and stabilized against strain‑age embrittlement (≥0.025% Al). Alloying minimums require at least two of: Ni 0.40%, Cr 0.40%, Mo 0.15%. Limits for sulfur and phosphorus are specified (see Table 2).

Heat treatment: Components must be hardened from above the AC3 point and tempered ≥400 °C (minimum effective tempering equivalent: 400 °C for 1 h) prior to proof testing. Surface hardening of load‑bearing parts is not permitted.

Mechanical properties:

Manufacturing Proof Force (MPF) - components must withstand MPF without permanent dimensional change beyond specified tolerances.
Breaking Force (BF) - minimum BF values are defined in Table 3.
Fatigue resistance - for components up to 32 t WLL, at least 20 000 cycles at specified force range (max = 1.5 × WLL; min positive ≤ 3 kN; frequency ≤ 25 Hz).

Manufacture and workmanship: Forgings shall be hot‑forged in one piece, finish free of sharp edges, and welding is restricted (only non-load-bearing or pre‑heat‑treatment welds allowed).

Verification and testing: Type examination, static and fatigue tests (three samples per size/design), manufacturing tests, and testing by a competent person. Traceability codes and marking requirements are specified.

Documentation: Manufacturer’s declaration and instructions for use required.
