Abstract
Overview
ISO/IEC 11179-3:2023/Amd 1:2026 is an important amendment to the international standard for Metadata Registries (MDR), specifically focusing on enhancements to item mapping within registry common facilities. Developed by ISO and IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 (JTC1), Subcommittee SC 32 (Data management and interchange), this amendment builds on the fourth edition of and introduces updates that improve the interoperability, administration, and management of metadata items, as well as clarify rules and provide advanced item-mapping capabilities.
