- Single Movie Box (moov) for presentation description; fragmented files are disallowed.
- Temporal ordering of media data with strict interleaving guidelines for multi-track scenarios.
- Metadata storage incorporates structural, descriptive, and historical metadata, with XML representation recommended for descriptive metadata.
Archiving and Dissemination Procedures
- Guidelines on ingesting digital production material, compressed Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs), and scanned film material into the archive formats.
- Recommendations for archiving encrypted content by decrypting prior to storage to mitigate key loss risks.
- Processes for dissemination to various user groups including digital cinemas, broadcasters, educational institutions, and researchers, supporting multiple output formats such as DCP, MPEG-4/H.264, and MPEG-2.
- Content exchange protocols between archival institutions leveraging the stricter access format profile for interoperability.
