Overview
ISO/IEC 26559:2017 - "Software and systems engineering - Methods and tools for variability traceability in software and systems product line" defines a framework for establishing and managing variability traceability across a software and systems product line lifecycle. The standard provides domain-specific terms and definitions, a reference model, and structured process groups (planning, enabling, managing) described in terms of purpose, inputs, tasks and outcomes. It also specifies method capabilities and tool capabilities to support or automate variability tracing activities. ISO/IEC 26559:2017 applies to families of products (product lines), not to single-system traceability.
