ISO/OECD 789-10:2006 specifies tests for determining the hydraulic pressure at the external hydraulic service of an agricultural tractor/implement as specified in ISO 10448, as well as companion tests for measuring the maximum hydraulic power available.

Scope and definitions: Terms such as external hydraulic service, coupler pair, available differential pressure, maximum hydraulic power and maximum useable (continuous) hydraulic power are defined in line with ISO 10448.
Test types: Distinguishes Type 1 (OECD Code 2 compulsory) and Type 2 (supplementary) tests. Type 1 tests require engine at maximum speed; Type 2 may be at rated or maximum engine speed per manufacturer.
Test assembly and instrumentation:
- Loop between a coupler pair using a hose (minimum 10 mm ID) with male couplers conforming to ISO 5675.
- Pressure gauges located immediately adjacent to couplers, a flow meter and an adjustable restrictor valve to vary load.
- For sump return tests, specific connections (M22 × 1,5 or M27 × 2 ports per ISO 6149 series) are used.
Operating conditions:
- Hydraulic fluid per manufacturer recommendation; viscosity identified to ISO 3448 classification.
- Reservoir fluid temperature at start: 65 °C ± 5 °C (recorded).
- All tractor-mounted flow controls set for maximum flow.
Measurement units and tolerances:
- Rotational speed ±0.5%, time ±0.2 s, temperature ±2 °C, pressure ±2%, flow ±2%.
Reporting:
- Test reports follow the specimen format in Annex A and record engine speed, fluid temperature, pressure and flow readings, and calculated hydraulic power (both maximum and continuous/useable where applicable).
