Abstract
Overview
ISO/TR 18228-9:2022 provides guidance for the design of geosynthetic barriers (GBRs) used to reduce or prevent fluid migration in geotechnical and civil engineering applications. Part 9 of the ISO 18228 series focuses on barrier performance, material selection and design principles for geomembranes (GBR‑P), geosynthetic clay liners (GBR‑C), and bituminous barriers (GBR‑B). The technical report is written to help designers address durability, site conditions and conflicting performance criteria for long‑life barrier systems.
