This document establishes the performance requirements for accessories (laces and eyelets, metal components, touch and close fasteners, zippers and trims) for footwear, in order to assess the suitability for the end use. It also establishes the test methods to be used to evaluate the compliance with the requirements. This document applies to accessories (laces and eyelets, metal components, touch and close fasteners, zippers and trims) for all kinds of footwear as defined in Table 1. This document can be used as a reference by the manufacturer and the supplier.

ISO/TS 20358:2024 - Footwear - Performance requirements for components for footwear - Accessories specifies performance requirements and test methods for footwear accessories such as laces and eyelets, metal components, touch-and-close fasteners, zippers and trims. It is intended to assess suitability for end use across all kinds of footwear by classifying products by exposure (Classes A–D) and defining minimum performance thresholds and test procedures. The technical specification is a practical reference for manufacturers, suppliers, test laboratories and quality teams involved in footwear component selection and verification.

- Zippers: Requirements for puller attachment strength (e.g., ≥250–300 N), lateral load (e.g., ≥400–500 N), and fatigue resistance (e.g., ≥1 000–2 000 cycles) per ISO 10734, ISO 10764 and EN 16732.
- Trims and attachment strength: Minimum attachment strength requirements (for some classes ≥50 N) evaluated per ISO 24263.
- Marking and labelling: Optional. If used, accessories claiming compliance must be clearly marked with manufacturer identification, intended footwear class, and reference to ISO/TS 20358:2024; markings must not be visible on finished footwear.
