Overview
ISO/TS 21192:2024 - Electronic fee collection - Support for traffic management - defines an architectural and data-exchange framework that enables tolling systems to actively support traffic management. The Technical Specification describes how a Toll Charger (TC) and a Road and Traffic Manager (RTM) exchange information such as Level of Service (LOS), tariff schemes, and traffic data (vehicle probe and flow data) so tolling can be used as a tool for congestion mitigation, travel demand management and emissions control.
This second edition (2024) updates data definitions and aligns terminology with ISO/TS 17573 parts and related ITS standards. It does not prescribe communication stacks or timing requirements, nor does it mandate implementation-specific mandatory/optional elements.
