Overview
ISO/TS 23889:2024 defines performance requirements and associated test methods for heel and top piece components used in footwear. The Technical Specification applies to components irrespective of material and is intended as a reference for manufacturers and suppliers to assess suitability for end use and fitness for purpose. It does not apply to finished footwear.

Marking and labelling: Optional. If referenced, only components meeting all essential requirements may be marked; marking must specify manufacturer identification, intended class (A–D) and the ISO/TS 23889:2024 reference, and must not be on any part that remains visible in the finished footwear.
