Additional Network Feature Wireless terminal incoming call (ANF-WTMI) directs incoming call to a WTMI user within a PISN regardless of the WTMI user's geographical location within the PISN, provided the WTMI user's location is known. Additional Network Feature Wireless terminal outgoing call (ANF-WTMO) detects an outgoing call from a WTMO user and establishes it as a basic call, regardless of the user's geographical location within the PISN. It also provides the WTMO user's service profile for use by outgoing call control, or alternatively passes the call to the WTMO user's home location for processing.
Abstract
Overview
SIST EN 301 826 V1.1.1:2005 specifies the implementation of additional network features for wireless terminal call handling within a Private Integrated Services Network (PISN). This European standard, aligned with the modified ISO/IEC 15430:1999, sets out the specification, functional model, and information flows necessary to support enhanced mobility and service handling for wireless terminal users-regardless of their location within the PISN. It ensures seamless delivery and control of both incoming and outgoing calls for users with wireless terminals, addressing the needs of modern private telecommunication infrastructures.
Key Topics
- Wireless Terminal Mobility: The standard introduces advanced mechanisms for managing incoming and outgoing voice calls for users with wireless terminals across the entire PISN, supporting user mobility and geographical flexibility.
- ANF-WTMI (Incoming Call Handling): Additional Network Feature - Wireless Terminal Mobile Incoming (ANF-WTMI) enables routing of incoming calls to the correct wireless terminal user, provided their location information within the network is available.
- ANF-WTMO (Outgoing Call Handling): Additional Network Feature - Wireless Terminal Mobile Outgoing (ANF-WTMO) identifies outgoing calls from wireless terminal users, sets up the basic call irrespective of user location, and provides user-specific service profiles or redirects to the user's home location for further processing.
- Functional Model & Information Flows: Defines the interaction between network components for service delivery, ensuring interoperability and consistency throughout the PISN.
- Integration and Compatibility: Compliant with ISDN concepts and the OSI framework, promoting interoperability within multi-vendor environments and alignment with international telecommunications standards.
Applications
SIST EN 301 826 V1.1.1:2005 is particularly valuable in contexts where private organizations require robust, scalable, and flexible telecommunication solutions. Practical applications include:
- Enterprise Telephony: Supports mobility for employees using wireless devices within large offices, campuses, or industrial sites connected by a PISN, ensuring uninterrupted communication regardless of user movement.
- Healthcare Facilities: Healthcare staff benefit from reliable wireless call handling as they move throughout hospitals or clinics.
- Manufacturing and Warehousing: Enhances operational efficiency and safety by allowing staff to remain accessible via wireless terminals across large, dynamic work environments.
- Campus Networks: Universities and research parks use PISN solutions to support faculty, students, and staff, ensuring location-independent voice services.
- Secure and Private Communication Networks: Government or defense installations leverage these features to maintain confidential, internal mobility-enabled communication.
By specifying the required functionality, information flows, and signal processing, the standard delivers a blueprint for secure, scalable, and responsive voice communication networks within private domains.
