Water quality & conditioning:

Water temperature 18–22 °C; oxygen ≤ 10 mg/kg; de-aired or from a stilling tank to avoid entrapped air.
Specimens pre-saturated in water with 0.1% (v/v) aryl alkyl sodium sulfonate and left for at least 12 hours.

Measurements & instruments: dissolved-oxygen meter (ISO 5813), stopwatch (0.1 s), thermometer (±0.2 °C), volume measurement with defined accuracy, head-measurement accuracy ~3%.

Procedure controls: seating stress, leak checks, head equilibration within 5 minutes, steady-state flow measurement and collection of permeate for flow calculation.

Statistics & reporting: guidance for specimen number when confidence intervals are required (ISO 2854) and required test-report information.
