Overview
EN ISO 10893-8:2011 - "Non-destructive testing of steel tubes - Part 8" specifies requirements for automated ultrasonic testing (AUT) to detect laminar imperfections in steel tubes. The standard covers full-peripheral ultrasonic inspection of the pipe body of seamless and welded (except submerged arc-welded, SAW) tubes, testing in the area adjacent to weld seams of welded tubes, and optionally full-peripheral testing of tube ends. It can also be applied to circular hollow sections. The ultrasonic technique is pulse-echo with ultrasound transmitted normal to the tube surface.
