Overview
EN ISO 16496:2016 (ISO 16496:2016) specifies requirements, recommended dimensions and test methods for laboratory glassware manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 and fitted with a vacuum jacket for thermal insulation. The standard covers common vacuum-jacketed vessels used in laboratories - notably Dewar flasks, vacuum-jacketed reaction vessels and vacuum-jacketed columns - and provides typical dimensions (Tables 1–5) and safety/usage guidance. It does not apply to large-scale production equipment or vessels operated at pressures exceeding 0.1 bar above atmospheric.
