EN ISO 19014-4:2020 - Earth-moving machinery - Functional safety - Part 4 - specifies principles for the design and evaluation of software and data transmission used in safety-related parts of machine-control systems (MCS) for earth-moving machinery (EMM). The standard focuses on preventing incorrect MCS output responses to inputs and applies to new EMM manufactured on or after its publication. Cybersecurity is explicitly out of scope (see appropriate security standards for that topic). EN ISO 19014-4:2020 is a Type‑C machinery safety standard and complements definitions in ISO 6165 and hazard concepts in ISO 12100.
