Abstract
Overview
EN ISO 3262-4:2023 (CEN adoption of ISO 3262-4:2023) specifies the requirements and corresponding test methods for whiting, a natural calcium carbonate (chalk) used as an extender in paints, coatings, plastics and other formulations. This second edition supersedes EN ISO 3262-4:1998 and aligns essential quality criteria, sampling and analytical procedures to ensure consistent material performance.

- Detailed laboratory method for determination of matter insoluble in HCl (sample ~10 g, approx. 25% HCl, boil 15 min, filter on 0.8 µm membrane, dry at 105 ± 2 °C and weigh; formula provided).
