Overview
EN ISO 377:2017 (ISO 377:2017) defines requirements for the identification, location and preparation of samples and test pieces for mechanical testing of steel products. It applies to steel sections, bars, rods, flat products and tubular products (as defined in ISO 6929) and, by agreement, can be used for other metallic products. The standard ensures that samples taken for tensile, impact, hardness and other mechanical tests are representative, traceable and prepared in a controlled way for reliable test results. Where an order or a product standard conflicts with EN ISO 377:2017, the order/product standard takes precedence.
