Overview

EN ISO 6224:2024 (adopted by CEN as EN ISO 6224:2024) is the international specification for textile‑reinforced thermoplastics hoses intended for general‑purpose water‑discharge applications. The fifth edition (ISO 6224:2024) updates the 2011 edition and sets requirements for materials, construction, dimensions, physical properties, testing, marking, packaging and storage for non‑potable, non‑firefighting water hoses.

  • Type 1 (Low pressure) - 0.6 MPa (6 bar) at 23 °C; 0.36 MPa (3.6 bar) at 60 °C
  • Type 2 (Medium pressure) - 1.0 MPa (10 bar) at 23 °C; 0.65 MPa (6.5 bar) at 60 °C
  • Type 3 (High pressure) - 2.5 MPa (25 bar) at 23 °C; 1.6 MPa (16 bar) at 60 °C
• Dimensions & tolerances: Inside diameters, tolerances, minimum wall thicknesses and length tolerances are specified (see Table 1 and ISO 1307/ISO 4671 references). Concentricity tolerance between inside diameter and outside cover surface is maximum 1.0 mm.
• Testing & conformity: Standard defines type, routine and production tests, with Annex A normative (type and routine testing) and Annex B informative (recommended production tests). Requirements for test certificates/reports and marking are included.
• Quality aspects: Includes physical property requirements for thermoplastic materials and finished hoses and references standard test methods for ageing, flexibility, hydrostatic testing and dimensional measurement.
