EN ISO 9994:2019 (identical to ISO 9994:2018) is the CEN-endorsed European standard that defines safety requirements for flame-producing lighters - commonly sold as cigarette lighters, cigar lighters and pipe lighters. The standard is intended to ensure a reasonable degree of safety for normal use and reasonably foreseeable misuse. It supersedes EN ISO 9994:2006 and was prepared by ISO/TC 61 in collaboration with CEN/TC 355.
