Overview
SIST ISO 8454:2008 specifies a standardized method for the determination of carbon monoxide (CO) in the vapour phase of cigarette smoke using a non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) method. Developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) under the guidance of Technical Committee ISO/TC 126 (Tobacco and tobacco products), this standard provides a repeatable and reproducible procedure that supports laboratories, regulators, and manufacturers in evaluating the carbon monoxide yield of cigarettes under controlled conditions.
