Specifies minimum requirements for ferrules made of steel, aluminium or copper. The eye termination may be made either as a Flemish eye or a turn back loop. Prototype tests covering the type acceptance of ferrule-secured systems and routine quality control requirements are also specified.
Abstract
Overview
SIST ISO 8793:1997 - Steel wire ropes - Ferrule-secured eye terminations is an international standard specifying the minimum requirements for ferrule-secured eye terminations used on steel wire ropes. Established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), this standard is adopted in Slovenia by SIST. It covers the requirements for ferrules made of steel, aluminium, or copper, applicable to the two primary types of eye terminations: Flemish eye and turn back loop. Additionally, SIST ISO 8793:1997 details the prototype testing and quality control procedures essential for ensuring the safety, reliability, and consistent performance of ferrule-secured wire rope assemblies.
