IEC 60335-2-99:2021

Overview

IEC 60335-2-99:2021 is the international safety standard for commercial electric hoods used above commercial cooking appliances (ranges, griddles, griddle grills, deep fat fryers). This Part 2 standard supplements IEC 60335-1 and specifies particular safety requirements for single complete hood units or hoods supplied as separate parts that, when assembled, form a complete working hood incorporating a fan. Scope includes common extraction systems such as back‑draft, down‑draft and fume extraction modules. Rated voltages covered are up to 250 V for single‑phase between phase and neutral and 480 V for other hoods.

This second edition (2021) is a technical revision that aligns the text with IEC 60335-1:2020, converts some notes into normative requirements, excludes battery‑operated appliances and hoods intended for areas open to the public, and adds requirements for appliances that incorporate means for ionizing air.
