Overview

IEC 60669-1:2017 - "Switches for household and similar fixed-electrical installations - Part 1: General requirements" - is the fourth edition international standard specifying safety, performance and testing requirements for manually operated general-purpose AC switches intended for household and similar fixed electrical installations. It applies to switches with a rated voltage ≤ 440 V and rated current ≤ 63 A (screwless terminals limited to 16 A). This edition (2017) is a technical revision that updates definitions, test specimen rules, and adds requirements for pilot lights, flexible conductors, self‑ballasted lamp loads and low‑temperature use.
