Overview
IEC 61753-085-02:2021 is an international performance standard for non‑connectorized single‑mode pigtailed CWDM devices intended for category C (indoor controlled environment). It defines the minimum initial test and measurement requirements, test severities and reporting needed to demonstrate that a fibre‑optic pigtailed coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) device meets category C performance. This first edition (2021) replaces the 2008 edition and harmonizes test conditions with IEC 61753‑1:2018.

- Sample and test conditions: Minimum fibre/cable length of 2.0 m per port for all tests. Sample sizes and grouping of tests are defined in Table A.1 of the standard. Test report documentation and evidence are required.
- Measurement uncertainty: Typical measurement uncertainties are specified for wavelength (0.05 nm) and insertion loss (0.1 dB or 0.05 nm as applicable).
