Abstract
Overview
IEC 62271-211:2024 is an international standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that focuses on high-voltage switchgear and controlgear for rated voltages above 52 kV. Specifically, it covers direct connections between power transformers and gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear (GIS). This second edition updates and replaces the previous 2014 edition, reflecting significant technical revisions to align with newer standards and enhance reliability, safety, and compatibility.
The standard establishes interchangeability between transformer connection interfaces and GIS, specifying limits for both electrical and mechanical parameters. It applies to both single-phase and three-phase transformer arrangements directly connected to GIS, with insulation provided through transformer oil or insulating gas on the transformer side and gas-insulation inside the switchgear enclosure.
