IEC 62453-1:2009 presents an overview and guidance for the IEC 62453 series. IEC 62453-1:2009 - Field Device Tool (FDT) interface specification, Part 1: Overview and guidance - is the introductory part of the IEC 62453 series. It presents an overview of the FDT approach for integrating field devices and engineering tools in industrial automation. This part explains the structure and content of the series, clarifies concepts common to many parts, and describes relationships to related standards. IEC 62453-1 frames the FDT model used to enable vendor-supplied device components to interoperate with system-level engineering and lifecycle tools.
