Defines the left and right sides of dyeing and finishing machines so that the positioning of the various parts may be described without ambiguity, in particular when ordering. Applicable to individual machines in which the textile material follows a predetermined path, but not applicable to assemblies of machines in plants. - Replaces the first edition (ISO 1036-1976) and constitutes its technical revision.

Overview
ISO 1036:1984 establishes a clear convention for indicating the left and right sides of dyeing and finishing machines used in the textile industry. The second edition (1984) cancels and replaces the first edition (1976) and provides an unambiguous basis for describing the position of machine parts when ordering, documenting, or servicing individual machines.
This International Standard applies to machines in which the textile material follows a predetermined path (including bleaching and certain printing equipment) and is not intended for assemblies of machines in continuous plant configurations.
