Abstract
Overview
ISO 11551:2019 - Optics and photonics - Lasers and laser-related equipment - Test method for absorptance of optical laser components specifies repeatable procedures and measurement techniques to obtain comparable values of for optical components exposed to laser radiation. The standard defines absorptance as the ratio of radiant flux converted into heat to the incident radiant flux and describes a calorimetric approach for cw and pulsed laser measurements. It also clarifies the measurement limits (only thermally converted absorption is detected) and highlights environmental, mounting and instrumentation considerations that influence results.
