This document specifies methods for measuring the resolution and the spatial frequency response (SFR) of digital cameras. It is applicable to the measurement of both monochrome and colour cameras which output digital data.

Overview - ISO 12233:2024 (ISO 12233:2024)
ISO 12233:2024 specifies standardized methods for measuring resolution and spatial frequency response (SFR) of digital cameras. Applicable to both monochrome and colour cameras that output digital data, the fifth edition (identical to ISO 12233:2024) replaces the previous edition and clarifies normative algorithms and test-chart guidance. The standard defines test conditions, measurement procedures and reporting practices to produce repeatable, comparable resolution and SFR metrics.
