ISO 14790:2005 specifies the essential requirements (including certain quality aspects) of snowboard plate bindings without release mechanism. It is applicable to non-releasable snowboard plate bindings for adults and children. ISO 14790:2005 does not apply to snowboard plate bindings with a release mechanism or to snowboard soft bindings.

ISO 14790:2005 - "Snowboard plate-bindings without a release mechanism - Requirements and test methods" defines essential safety, performance and quality requirements for non-releasable snowboard plate bindings for adults and children. It excludes bindings with release mechanisms and soft bindings. The standard prescribes functional criteria, mechanical and fatigue test methods, marking and user/mounting instructions to ensure reliable boot-to-board connection in winter conditions.

- Additional requirements
- Minimum breaking force for retaining-leash mounting point and leash: 500 N.
- Binding must latch with a minimum 2 mm snow pack between boot sole and binding.
- Bindings must be supplied with appropriate mounting screws (preferably M6 class g or per ISO 6004).
- Sampling & measurement
- Three pairs required for testing; measurement accuracy ±2% for torsion/forward bending.
- Marking and documentation
- Marking: manufacturer/trademark and max user mass for children’s bindings (45 kg).
- Required mounting and user instructions (mount points, drill template, boot requirements, maintenance, leash use, antiskid pad guidance).
