This International Standard specifies the quality requirements for the hull construction of steel bulk carriers. It does not apply to double-skin bulk carriers. Requirements for the maintenance and repair of steel bulk carriers are given in ISO 15402.

ISO 15401:2000 - Ships and marine technology: Bulk carriers - Construction quality of hull structure defines the quality requirements for the hull construction of steel bulk carriers (single-skin). Published in 2000, the standard sets out inspection, processing and documentation practices for steel materials, fabrication, welding, coating and dimensional accuracy during shipbuilding.
