This document specifies the requirements for hot-dip galvanized (hereinafter referred to as zinc coated) and zinc-aluminium coated high tensile wires, which are widely used in parallel wire cables or semi-parallel wire cables for suspension bridges, stay bridges and other structures involving the use of parallel wires.

Overview
ISO 19203:2018 specifies requirements for hot-dip galvanized (zinc coated) and zinc‑aluminium coated high tensile steel wire intended for bridge cables. It covers wires commonly used in parallel wire and semi-parallel wire cables for suspension bridges, cable‑stayed (stay) bridges and other structures employing bundled high‑strength wires. The standard defines product designation, material and manufacturing requirements, inspection and testing methods, delivery conditions and traceability.
