This document specifies requirements for the provision of quality services at medical spas which use natural healing waters (except sea water) and other natural resources. This document does not cover decisions that correspond to the medical profession. This document does not apply to thalassotherapy centres or wellness spa centres.
Abstract
Overview - ISO 21426:2018 (Medical spas - Service requirements)
ISO 21426:2018 defines that use natural healing waters (excluding sea water) and other natural resources. It sets out framework requirements to ensure quality, safety and consistency in the operation of medical spas (balneology centres) without prescribing medical decisions - those remain the responsibility of qualified healthcare professionals. The standard targets establishments offering therapeutic treatments based on mineral/thermal waters, natural gases and peloids (therapeutic muds).
