ISO 4834:1997

Overview

ISO 4834:1997 defines the basic technical characteristics for magnetic sound test films used to check, adjust and measure sound reproducing channels in dubbing motion-picture installations. The standard covers test films made on 35 mm, 17.5 mm and 16 mm motion‑picture film and excludes striped release prints. It specifies the test functions (azimuth, reference level, frequency response and flutter), tolerances, signal formats and production/identification requirements for reliable calibration and evaluation.
