The word PILOT must be carried in black on pilot craft.
For craft with freeboard ≥ 1 m: the inscription PILOT must appear on both sides of the hull. Letter height must be at least one half of the freeboard height at midships. It is recommended that the inscription also appear on the forward face of the superstructure in letters of at least 250 mm.
For craft with freeboard < 1 m: PILOT must be placed on the superstructure (deckhouse or roof) on both sides, with letters at least 250 mm.
For small boats where roof space is limited, carry the marking on the wheelhouse roof or, if necessary, apply a black circle with a white letter 'P' centered, the base of the letter facing forward.
