Abstract
Overview
ISO 6451:1982 specifies a rapid method for checking fusion of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coatings on plastics coated fabrics. Intended as a quick screening test for PVC-coated textiles, the method identifies whether a PVC coating has adequately fused to the substrate. It is not suitable for coatings made from aqueous PVC dispersions.

- Remove and visually examine the bent area for new cracks or holes. Disregard lacquer removal or superficial surface effects.
- Interpretation and reporting:
- If fresh cracks or holes appear in the bent area, fusion is incomplete (fail).
- Test report must include reference to ISO 6451:1982, product identification, test temperature, result (fusion complete/incomplete), any deviations, date, and test-piece length.
