ISO 7176-4:2008 specifies methods for determining theoretical distance range of electrically powered wheelchairs, including scooters, using measurements of energy consumed while driving and the nominal energy capacity of the wheelchair's battery set. It is applicable to electrically powered wheelchairs with a maximum nominal speed no greater than 15 km/h, intended to provide indoor and/or outdoor mobility for one disabled person whose mass is within the range represented by ISO 7176-11. ISO 7176-4:2008 also includes requirements for test reports and information disclosure.

ISO 7176-4:2008 - "Wheelchairs - Part 4: Energy consumption of electric wheelchairs and scooters for determination of theoretical distance range" specifies standardized methods to measure electrical energy consumption and to calculate the theoretical distance range of electrically powered wheelchairs and scooters. The standard applies to vehicles with a maximum nominal speed ≤ 15 km/h and single-occupant design whose mass range is represented by ISO 7176-11. It also defines test report content and information disclosure requirements to support consistent comparison between models.

- Procedure notes: Warm‑up laps (10 clockwise + 10 anti‑clockwise) are required before testing; energy recorded over test laps is used to calculate specific energy consumption (Wh/km) and theoretical range using nominal battery energy capacity.
- Reporting & disclosure: Test reports must include measured energy consumption, track length, test conditions, battery capacity and calculated theoretical ranges. Disclosure requirements align with other ISO 7176 documentation.
