The method is applicable to the determination of copper content greater than or equal to 0,50 % in aluminium alloys. The method is not completely applicable to alloys containing tin or antimony (see annex A) or bismuth (see annex B), for which it should be modified.
Abstract
Overview
ISO 796:1973 defines a standardized electrolytic method for the determination of copper content in aluminium alloys. This internationally recognized procedure is applicable when the copper content is greater than or equal to 0.50%. Specifically, it addresses the chemical analysis of aluminium alloys to accurately quantify copper using electrolytic deposition techniques. The standard excludes certain alloys containing tin, antimony, or bismuth without modifications, which are covered in dedicated annexes. This ensures precise copper measurements even in complex alloy matrices.
