ISO 9311-1:2005 specifies three test procedures suitable for the determination of the spreadability and film properties of solvent-containing adhesives for thermoplastic piping systems. These methods do not produce directly comparable results. One method is applicable to non-thixotropic adhesives and the other two methods are applicable to thixotropic adhesives.

ISO 9311-1:2005 - "Adhesives for thermoplastic piping systems - Part 1: Determination of film properties" defines three laboratory test procedures for assessing the spreadability and film properties of solvent-containing adhesives used with thermoplastic piping systems. The standard distinguishes between non‑thixotropic and thixotropic adhesives and specifies equipment, conditioning, application speed and evaluation methods. Note that the three methods are intended for different adhesive rheologies and do not produce directly comparable results.
