The purpose of the ISO/IEC 29182 series is to provide guidance to facilitate the design and development of sensor networks, improve interoperability of sensor networks, and make sensor network components plug-and-play, so that it becomes fairly easy to add/remove sensor nodes to/from an existing sensor network. ISO/IEC 29182-4 presents models for the entities that enable sensor network applications and services according to the Sensor Network Reference Architecture (SNRA).
Abstract
Overview
ISO/IEC 29182-4:2013 - part of the Sensor Network Reference Architecture (SNRA) series - defines high-level entity models for sensor networks. The standard describes how physical entities (for example, sensor nodes, gateways, service providers and users) and functional entities (for example, data acquisition, communications, data processing, device management) are modeled and related within the SNRA. Its goal is to facilitate sensor network design, improve interoperability, and support plug-and-play composition of sensor network components.
Note: the ISO/IEC 29182 series provides guidance rather than mandatory compliance; users must ensure local or application-specific requirements are met.
